Focusing on what is important to him as a photographer but also what is important in a photograph. With colour being absent he focuses on capturing raw moments, shape, texture, line, pattern and light; quality of light, direction of light, presence or absence of, and what story that tells. Matthew believes a black and white photograph is the essence of the art form. He believes when it comes down to the art, colour is merely useless information. He believes a black and white photograph forces you to look at what's important.
