Certificate of Authenticity and Hologram System

Secure, authenticate, and protect your artwork.

Hahnemühle's Certificate of Authenticity was developed to protect the genuineness, integrity, and value of your limited-edition artworks and reproductions on Hahnemühle paper, helping to minimize the risk of forgery.

Through a unique combination of high-quality materials and serialized holograms, this system ensures that each certificate is associated with a specific, one-of-a-kind work of art.

To further enhance security

A serialized, tamper-proof hologram is applied to the certificate, while the second, identically numbered hologram is placed on the reverse side of the artwork.

This dual-hologram system links one specific certificate to a particular artwork, making forgery virtually impossible.

Artists can then personalize the text and layout of the certificate to suit each work. The result is a professional, secure way to document the origin and edition of each piece.

Ensuring authenticity from print to delivery

When you sell artworks through My Art Registry, the printing and distribution are done by the Printing Studio that prints them.

You assign the right certificate number to a unique piece you are selling, personalize the text and layout on the Certificate to suit it, and the Certified Studio is then responsible for attaching it to the printed artwork and handing it over to the buyer.

How the artwork certification is done?

1. Customize and print your Certificate of Authenticity (COA)

Use an inkjet or laser printer to print the certificate with your wording. For best results, feed the printer one sheet at a time.

1.
2. Sign, number, and send each printed Certificate to the Hahnemühle team

On the front of the printed certificate, add the edition number, date, and your signature. Take care not to forget to send a tamper-proof corresponding hologram as well.

2.
3. Sell and print your limited edition artwork

When your artwork or reproduction is sold, Print Studio creates it on genuine Hahnemühle paper.

3.
4. Apply the matching holograms

One tamper-proof hologram is then sealed on the back of the print, while the matching serial-numbered hologram is on the certificate.

4.
5. Repeat for each piece in the edition

The same steps are completed for each print in the edition to ensure full authenticity and traceability.
