Romain Thiery (Bergerac, 1988) is a photographic artist and amateur pianist whose work has captured international attention. Since 2014, he has been leading a unique project that blends his two passions in the series Requiem pour pianos. Across the world, he searches for abandoned pianos, silent witnesses of a bygone era. He photographs each instrument in its state of decay, without altering the scene, preserving the original atmosphere of the place. His distinctive approach not only involves photographing these pianos in their dilapidated condition but also recording, note by note, every sound they are still able to produce. To him, the piano is deeply rooted in the heart of our culture and continues to embody a timeless nobility. His work has been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries and has been featured in major international media outlets such as The Guardian, El País, and Der Spiegel.
