DAYM (Markus Deyen) is a German contemporary Pop and Urban Artist whose work is rooted in graffiti culture, photography, and design. Raised in Lingen (Ems), he developed an early connection to urban visual language, street culture, and visual expression — influences that continue to shape his artistic practice today. Before returning to fine art, DAYM worked internationally as a professional tour, festival, fashion, and editorial photographer. From 2007 onward, he immersed himself in party, event, and concert photography, establishing himself professionally from 2012. Over the following years, he collaborated with internationally recognized artists and bands, while documenting major festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Rock am Ring, Deichbrand, and Metal Camp. His work also extended into the fashion and editorial field, including Fashion Weeks in Berlin, Milan, and New York, as well as collaborations with well-known models and public figures. With a background in design, DAYM combines photographic precision, graphic structure, and the raw energy of urban culture. A decisive shift came during the Covid-19 pandemic, when he consciously returned to fine art. Re-engaging with spray paint, acrylic, and mixed-media techniques, he began transferring his visual language onto canvas and object. His works feature masked figures, anthropomorphic characters, and symbolic motifs that explore themes of consumption, power, isolation, humor, and hope. His practice moves between gallery presentation, public space, and private collections. Works by DAYM have been shown in curated contexts including Kunsthalle Lingen, the area surrounding Phoenix-See in Dortmund, architecture-related settings such as UNFORM, and other selected exhibition environments.
