Paolo Salmaso (born in Battipaglia, Italy, in 1978; lives and works in Munich) is a contemporary visual and lens-based artist. His work moves between the infrared spectrum, geometric minimalism and the suspension of time. He does not chase iconic places. He starts from an idea and looks for it in the real world: places, buildings and landscapes become subjects only when they offer the right perspective. With infrared photography, which he develops under the name infraREALISM, he turns what the eye cannot see into colour. Through minimalism and long exposure, he reduces architecture and places to essential forms and suspends time. Every work is a unique piece, 1 of 1, with no reprints, because the moment, the light and the viewpoint cannot be repeated.
