Dezi Chui, an illustrator from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, currently working in Singapore. After studying Illustration & Comics, I have spent 14 years in the illustration, animation, and game industries, as well as 3 years in the advertising industry. I enjoy landscape painting and often explore different places mainly in Singapore and Malaysia to study building structures and architectural designs. I work with various painting mediums, including digital, traditional, and mixed techniques, and experiment with different angles and perspectives of buildings to make my artwork more dynamic. My subjects include urban buildings, historical landmarks, iconic architecture, cathedrals, churches, temples, mosques, abandoned sites, and shop lots. In 2013, I decided to turn my art style into a profession. The idea behind my art series, “Past & Present,” is to portray the stories of buildings from both past and present.
