This image was taken in the abandoned Fort Pitt Steel Casting Company in McKeesport, PA in August of 2010. I spent my formative years (1969-1979) growing up just six blocks away in the Christy Park section of McKeesport where this steel casting foundry is located.
My maternal grandfather worked there as a welder during The Great Depression, and my paternal grandfather worked there in the 1940’s and was injured at one point requiring a hospital stay. After coming home from World War I...
