In 1954, Mercedes-Benz presented the 300 SL “Gullwing” W198 at the “International Motor Sports Show” in New
York. When this very gullwing was shown at a classic car event in 2011, the idea for this motif was spontaneously born in reference to the memorable event. The background was painted on the basis of a historic New York picture and used as a background motif during the studio shoot.
