An American Crow shakes off rain, caught in the moment its head was nearly reversed. At the same time, the crow blinks and shows its icy blue nictitating membrane – a translucent third eyelid birds use to protect and moisten the eye. These two events combined into a single moment, resulting in this possessed-looking crow. Taken in Alaska, 2026.
