A narrow passage through Israel's Negev Desert shifts from luminous pale stone into deep shadow. Warm layers of ochre and rose meet cooler violet-gray passages and small traces of vegetation, while the darkness of the canyon continues into the water below. The painting explores the boundary between the landscape illuminated by the desert sun and the parts that remain hidden. Created as part of my ongoing 365 Days of Travel Watercolors project.
