A watercolor inspired by a mural in Kraków depicting King Casimir III the Great and the legendary Esterka. For centuries, Casimir has been associated with providing protections that allowed Jewish communities to grow and thrive in Poland. Part of my Poland & Ukraine Roots Journey and ongoing 365-day watercolor project, the painting reflects themes of belonging, continuity, community, and the possibility of beginning again.
