At Vogelfederberg, Namibia, massive granite formations surround a small patch of vegetation growing within the stone. Seen through the eye of an architect, the rocks create a natural enclosure: granite walls, a floor of sand, and open sky above. The Place It Found reflects an idea that has surfaced repeatedly throughout my Namibia paintings: life establishing itself in seemingly improbable places.
