A watercolor inspired by a scene from the property of the daughter of the oldest woman we met in Rudniki, Ukraine. A wandering rooster, open doorway, ladder, and weathered buildings capture the rhythm of everyday rural life. Part of my Poland & Ukraine Roots Journey within an ongoing 365-day watercolor project, the painting reflects the ordinary routines and daily work that rarely survive in family histories but make up much of life's story.
