Part of my Poland & Ukraine Roots Journey within an ongoing 365-day watercolor project, this painting depicts a cottage in Rudniki, Ukraine where we stopped to ask questions about my wife's family history. The woman who lived there pointed us toward another lead, yet what we didn't realize at the time was that the family home we had crossed an ocean to find was standing just behind us. The watercolor reflects discovery, memory, and the way understanding often arrives in hindsight.
