Part of my 365 Days of Travel Watercolors project, this painting was inspired by a solitary limestone sea stack along Portugal's Algarve coast. Separated from the cliffs that once formed it, the rock rises from turquoise Atlantic waters as a quiet reminder of the forces that continue to shape the landscape. Rather than focusing on detail, the watercolor explores the relationship between stone, sea, and time through one of the Algarve's most distinctive coastal formations.
